Motorola releases TEAM Voice-over-Wireless-LAN in Australia

Motorola has announced that Melbourne-based Alloy Computer Products has joined its Partner Select network as a key distributor of its Total Enterprise Access and Mobility Voice-over-Wireless-LAN product (TEAM VoWLAN).

Motorola’s TEAM offers a choice of servers and Windows Mobile VoWLAN smartphones. It has been designed to provide enterprise users with mobile access to voice and data services that are typically tethered to the desk. It offers the flexibility of Windows Mobile 6.1, for line of business applications that take VoWLAN beyond the combination of voice with mobile email, calendar, contacts, SMS and internet/intranet access. Along with telephony services that integrate with the corporate PBX and enterprise-grade push-to-talk (PTT), TEAM also interoperates with existing two-way radio systems.

Vince Chiappazzo, managing director, Australia and New Zealand, Motorola Enterprise Mobility Business, said Alloy’s expertise in networking and communications made them a suitable partner to distribute the solution locally.

“The TEAM solution exemplifies the combination of Motorola’s wireless voice capabilities and our strength in mobile data solutions. It empowers organisations to merge the cost-efficiency of VoIP with the increased productivity offered by true enterprise mobility. As leaders in the fields of VoIP, communications and networking we’re thrilled to have Alloy on board to take this potent technology to the local market.”

Greg Round, product development manager at Alloy, said, “With the steady growth in local wireless LAN adoption, our partnership with Motorola opens a range of exciting business opportunities for us. More and more businesses want to increase workforce productivity and drive down operation costs. The TEAM solution meets these needs by turning the desk phone and desktop into a pocketsize virtual office that gives comprehensive business functionality on a rugged, enterprise-class device. We see huge benefits for many Australian companies with TEAM VoWLAN.”

The complete system includes Windows Mobile VoWLAN smartphones, along with two servers – the Wireless Services Manager (WSM) and Network Services Manager (NSM). The WSM provides PTT services, text messaging, PBX interoperability, as well as enhancements to battery life, mobility and security. The NSM provides centralised provisioning and management.

The TEAM solution can be easily integrated into existing WLAN and PBX infrastructures, to create a single common platform for the delivery of integrated voice and data services. It can scale from small deployments up to 4,500 users, and will incorporate future TEAM solution capabilities, including dual-mode (VoWLAN and cellular) smartphones and the extension of services to other voice-capable Motorola devices.

The TEAM solution interoperates with WLAN infrastructure from leading vendors and the initial release supports selected IP and TDM PBXs from several market leaders.

Motorola currently seeks additional partners interested in taking the TEAM solution to market. Companies that operate in traditional voice telephony, PBX, mobility solutions, VoIP telephony and wireless networking are encouraged to contact Motorola for further information: https://www.motorola.com.
