Exclusive: Hyster to appoint new distributor

Fresh from its recent success with Qantas (see report), Hyster Asia-Pacific is reported to be close to announcing a new distributor for Australia. The front-runner is understood to be Melbourne-based Adapt-A-Lift.

The iconic Hyster and its stablemate Yale are manufactured by the American NACCO Materials Handling Group and were previously distributed by Nacco Australia. Yale is not part of the impending Hyster distribution deal.

NACCO Materials Handling Group designs, engineers and manufactures materials handling equipment, including warehouse trucks, counterbalanced trucks and large capacity cargo and container handling trucks. All lift trucks are marketed under the Hyster, Yale or Sumitomo brand names. NMHG is one of the world’s largest lift truck manufacturers.
Adapt-A-Lift Forklift Rentals and Sales was founded in 1979. Since then Adapt-A-Lift has grown to be the largest privately owned forklift company in Australia, comprising a growing national forklift fleet of over 5,600 units. The company currently distributes the Irish Combilift and AisleMaster brands.
Neither Hyster nor Adapt-A-Lift were available to comment, however, T&Lnews understands an announcement could be made as early as next week.
