Following on from its multi-award-winning DC, leading supplier of office products and business supplies Corporate Express has taken out two more awards – one for Environmental Sustainability and the other for Innovation – at the recently announced Australian Business Awards, along with Best Progress with a Sustainability Initiative by a Supplier in the New Zealand Ministry of the Environment Govt3 Awards.

Corporate Express has also been named a finalist in three other key sustainability awards – the Smart Supply Chain Awards, the United Nations Association of Australia World Environment Day Awards and the Green Globe Awards.

The Australian Business Awards are a national awards program recognising success, innovation and ethics across all industry sectors. The awards honour Australia’s industry leaders through the acknowledgment of innovative business processes, business excellence and overall business success. Corporate Express received awards for its environmental management and reporting, sustainability in the workplace initiatives, ESD facilities and sustainable supply chain program.

The New Zealand Ministry of Environment Govt3 Awards encourage government agencies to identify best practice and promote practical solutions in the areas of sustainable procurement and energy efficiency. Corporate Express’ award recognises the vital role suppliers have in delivering the sustainability agenda for organisations.

“At Corporate Express we started our sustainability journey more than 10 years ago and these awards recognise how far we’ve come. We are delighted to be recognised for our leadership in sustainability and will continue on our sustainability journey,” said Corporate Express chief executive officer, Paul Hitchcock.

“As a distributor of office products and business supplies, we realise that the biggest difference we can make is in the way we approach our supply chain. We supply many companies around Australia & New Zealand and so if we make good decisions in regards to our products, we enable our clients to make good decisions too. The awards we’ve received recognise that we are really serious about making a difference,” he added.

The Smart Supply Chain Awards celebrate exceptional corporate and individual performance in key supply chain and logistics industry sectors. Corporate Express was a finalist for the Award for Excellence in Supply Chain Innovation NSW for its pioneering approaching to Ecological Sustainable Design (ESD) elements in an industrial facility and the unique pick-to-cart operating model at its Erskine Park Regional Distribution Centre.

The United Nations Association of Australia World Environment Day Awards was established in 2000. Across 14 categories, awards were presented to individuals, schools, communities, governments and commercial organisations. Corporate Express was a finalist for the Lincolne Scott Sustainability Leadership Award, an award for environmental, social and commercial best practice program for business.

The Green Globe Awards are the leading environmental awards in New South Wales. The awards showcase outstanding achievements in the sustainable use of natural resources in NSW and leadership in tackling climate change. Corporate Express was a finalist in the Business Award – Sustainability, an award that honours business that has successfully integrated environmental management into planning, operations, product and service delivery.

Corporate Express was also named Sustainable Company of the Year in late 2008 at the 8th Annual Australian Sustainability Awards.
