Australasian Supply Chain Institute (ASCI) today has announced a significant addition to its Professional Accreditation Scheme. Practitioner Registration is now available for those working in the Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) environment.
Established as a not-for-profit organisation in 1963, ASCI is the Professional Accreditation Body for Supply Chain Management in Australia. ILS will be the fourth practitioner registration stream, joining Procurement, Operations and Logistics.
ILS is an integrated and iterative process for developing materiel and a strategy that optimises functional support, leverages existing resources, and guides the system engineering process to quantify and decrease life cycle cost and logistics footprint. While utilised for military purposes, it is also widely used in commercial product support or customer service organisations.
ASCI’s first ILS registrant is Gary Pearce, Senior Principal, Consultant at QinetiQ. Gary is an ILS Manager with over 45 years’ experience working in the Australian Defence Force for 21 years; the public service for 12 years; and the private sector for 12 years. In addition to his vast experience, Gary holds a Masters in both Logistics Management and Project Management.
According to Gary, the registration process is rigorous and credible, structured under ASCI’s Professional Accreditation Scheme, which is compatible to other professional accreditation bodies.
“Learning is about the journey, not the destination,” says Gary. “The underlying principles of registration are designed to assess and acknowledge experience; certifications; and tertiary qualifications. Coupled with the scheme’s ethics management and continuous professional development programs, I am accountable to my life long learning both professionally and ethically,” he said.
According to Ivan Imparato, CEO, ASCI, this announcement marks a significant milestone in history because it increases the accessibility and relevance of the scheme’s framework for industry-wide standards and consistency.
