Global logistics organisation acquires an Australian freight forwarding company

A Nordic based full-service International logistic organisation has acquired an Australian freight forwarding business.

As of 15th January 2020, Scan Global Logistics (SGL) has obtained Pioneer International Logistics (PIL).

Positioned in the Australian market since 2010, PIL employees will join more than 1,300 employees at SGL working out of +100 offices Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia-Pacific.

The three co-owners and key management team of PIL will continue with SGL Australia with Rob Erskine as MD, Rod MacPherson as Commercial Director and David Cooke as COO.

In a statement by SGL, the global freight forwarding provider said PIL has a strong market presence, proven business model and impressive growth in the last 10 years of operation.

The acquisition of PIL is a very important step forward, strengthening Scan Global Logistics Australia and the organisation more broadly,” SGL said.

“With PIL as part of the SGL Group, we strengthen our service offering to Australian and Pacific customers, with existing customers of Pioneer International Logistics benefitting from enhanced capabilities including added expertise, technology, network, and e-commerce platform.”

SGL has been present in the Australian market since 1998, and in 2018 the company began expanding into Australian logistics by acquiring Kestrel Freight and Customs.

SGL said existing PIL customers will have continued dedication and commitment to their outcomes, with enhanced capabilities including added technology, e-commerce platform, network, and expertise.
