Qube acquires grain handling business and creates new business unit

Qube has reached an agreement to acquire the business assets of Agrigrain (a NSW-based grain handling business). The agreement includes the acquisition of Agrigrain’s logistics facilities in both Narromine and Coonamble.

Between the Narromine and Coonamble sites, Agrigrain’s business offers onsite services including seed and fertiliser management, silo and bulker storage, grain drying, grading and bagging and container packing, as well as road and rail transport options. Agrigrain offers services above and beyond large bulk handlers, maintaining a storing local presence. This, combined with Qube’s market-leading integrated logistics solutions, provides regional exporters with direct access to world markets.

The new business unit ‘Qube Agri’ will form part of the Qube Logistics business. This acquisition, together with Quattro in Port Kembla and Qube’s container services in Port Botany allows Qube Logistics to provide expanded services through bulk and containerised rail services and bulk port infrastructure.

John Digney, Qube’s Director Logistics said, ‘The acquisition of Agrigrain facilities is significant as it provides Qube the ability to deliver integrated logistics services to its regional customers’.
