Australia’s largest manufacturer and exporter of gearboxes and attachments for the earthmoving industry has used the “one-stop shop” resources of Toyota Material Handling to meet the material handling needs of its three Australian factories.
Digga Australia has just commissioned 18 new material handling machines, the majority at its main 12,500-square-metre manufacturing plant in the Brisbane suburb of Yatala.
It has also commissioned new material handling machines at its Sydney and Melbourne manufacturing facilities.
Toyota Material Handling’s Queensland branch supplied the machines, which include six Toyota battery electric forklift trucks, two Toyota internal combustion forklift trucks, three BT Pallet Movers, six BT Pallet Jacks and a BT Walkie Stacker.
Toyota Material Handling’s product range includes Toyota Industrial Equipment, BT Lift Truck and Raymond material handing equipment, as well as Toyota Huski skid-steer loaders and Toyota towing tractors.
Digga Australia managing director Suzie Wright accepted the new machines from TMH (QLD) regional general manager Dan Williams.
Dan Williams says the two companies have been doing reciprocal business for about 20 years, with Digga producing attachments for Toyota’s Huski skid-steer loaders and Digga Australia using Toyota forklift trucks.
Suzie Wright says Digga Australia chose the TMH-supplied machines on the basis of quality, service and the reliability of the machines.
“The design of the machines was also a factor, allowing us to increase storage capacity,” Wright says.
“The new three-wheel machines gave us tighter turning circles, which in turn allowed us to increase storage by reducing the aisles from 4.2 metres to 3.8 metres.”
“We could have gone to even narrower machines, but this gave us plenty of room in our building without having to buy expensive narrow-aisled machines.”
“The turn-around time on machines was very quick, considering the number of machines purchased.”
“TMH was able to provide delivery and back-up to all of our branches.”
Digga Australia was founded in 1981 and now manufactures in three locations in Australia, as well as in the United Kingdom. It is fully Australian owned.
The company began exports to New Zealand and Europe in 1997, and in late 1999 began exporting to the USA.
Digga’s product range includes the most extensive range of world-class planetary drive gearboxs for earthmoving machines, as well as a range of attachments including trenchers, augers, brooms, aluminium ramps, pallet forks, slashers, 4 in 1 buckets, skid-hoes and one-man boring machines.
