Famous Pacific Shipping explores Chinese opportunity

Banking and trade finance was on the menu at a business luncheon in Sydney hosted by Famous Pacific Shipping Australia and leading Australian commercial bank, St George Bank (SGB).

Established to promote Australia/Chinese trade and demonstrate the capabilities of the co-hosts, this was the second of a planned series of luncheons.

At the event, Mr Xue Dong, Vice-Counsellor of the Economic and Commercial Office, Consulate-General of China in Sydney gave a 30-minute presentation on opportunities and emerging trends in China.

His presentation was followed by an enthusiastic question and answer session with the 50 guests and clients of both Famous Pacific Shipping Australia and St George Bank.

Jonas Tang, Managing Director of Famous Pacific Shipping (Australia) says the synergy between FPS Sydney and SGB is an exciting combination as it presents an opportunity to discuss and explore aspects of freight forwarding, logistics and trade finance solutions.

“Listening to Mr Xue gave our 50 guests a great opportunity to acquire first hand information on China’s recent commercial and economic developments,” Tang says.

“It was a successful event and generated considerable interest and feedback.”

“Many guests commented on the value of being able to talk with an official from the Chinese Consulate and gain a first hand impression of China’s recent commercial and economic developments, as well as current trade, commercial and economic-related issues.”

A previous luncheon was addressed by Mr Yew Chee Ong, the Malaysian Trade Commissioner to Australia.
