Global Supply Chain optimisation provider Manhattan Associates has announced that Wineworks Ltd, New Zealand’s largest contract bottler, has selected Manhattan ILS™: Integrated Logistics Solutions, to run its bottling and distribution facilities in Hawke’s Bay and Blenheim in the heart of the Marlborough Region.
Manhattan ILS will integrate to Wineworks’ existing IT systems, cementing the company’s market leadership by enabling them to provide a technological advantage to their winery customers through increased visibility and real-time inventory control.
Rapid and consistent growth in volumes, coupled with the lack of a systems support capability to manage their warehouse operations and extended Supply Chain, led to increased congestion in Wineworks’ facilities, making warehouse and distribution efficiency difficult to maintain.
“Our growth had outstripped our ability to effectively service our customers,” says Tim Nowell-Usticke, Managing Director of Wineworks.
“We realised we needed to substitute our manually driven processes with a more technology oriented approach.”
“More specifically, we needed a flexible and scalable solution that would enable us to effectively process the increasing number and size of orders we are seeing from our customers as demand for their products grows,” he says.
Wineworks will use Manhattan ILS’s Extended Enterprise Management (EEM) module alongside the solution’s traditional warehouse management functionality to provide a portal through which customers and suppliers can interact collaboratively with Wineworks’ operations.
“The implementation of Manhattan ILS brings our business onto our customers’ desktops, giving each winery clear visibility into their stock and any warehouse transactions that affect it,” Nowell-Usticke says, “even providing them the access to control their own inventory if they so choose.”
Manhattan ILS uses sophisticated optimisation techniques to improve the flow of goods throughout Supply Chains, enabling companies to tie together processes, data and workflows to increase order accuracy, improve deliveries and gain total visibility into inventory.
“Our track record of enabling growth with similar sized businesses in the contract logistics and services arena helped set us apart from other solution providers,” says Manhattan Associates Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand Chris Stephenson.
“Wineworks is a variation on the many types of contract logistics services providers we work with, effectively providing value added services alongside traditional distribution functions.”
“With its system implementation, Wineworks is taking an industry best practice approach to supporting its business operations and can be confident this will enable it to hit its future growth targets and surpass its customers’ expectations.”
