Supply chain industry disappointed with transport outsourcing benefits

Forklift survey Penfolds Grange

There is only two weeks to go before we close the Transport and Warehouse Management survey, which continues to reveal some very interesting insights on the realities of outsourcing.

Of those who have already outsourced their transport function, the majority (69%) is not seeing any benefits in the key areas of transport costs, transport asset reduction, order fulfilment and delivery service levels.

Not surprisingly, this is driving 74% of respondents to be reviewing their transport strategy within the next 12 months. This begs the obvious question: “Why don’t they do it themselves?”

Perhaps the reason for not taking this course of action reveals itself in the perceived future challenges to the logistics industry, where the number one concern (73%) is “A lack of talented people”.

What do you think about outsourcing?

Don’t delay in contributing your thoughts to the survey and have the chance to win a bottle of the infamous Penfolds Grange.
