Calibre wins BHP Point Hay coal terminal contract

National transport reforms have led to some improvements in the rail regulatory regime, but much more needs to be done to achieve the full benefits of reform.

Calibre has won the contract for BHP’s Point Hay coal terminal expansion in Queensland.

The contract, worth approximately $79 million, will include both on and offshore electrical and mechanical work for BHP subsidiary BMA.

It is an extension of existing contracts, as well as new work.

The work will be carried out through Calibre’s subsidiary G&S Engineering.

Speaking on the win, Calibre CEO Peter Reichler stated the company is “pleased to be awarded this work at Hay Point; Calibre is strongly committed to its coal sector infrastructure clients in the region”.

Calibre was awarded the initial Hay Point onshore upgrade contract, worth around $140 million, in April last year.
