Alliance welcomes new head of border and biosecurity

The Freight and Trade Alliance (FTA) has appointed a new head of border and biosecurity.

Paul Zalai, Director and co-founder of FTA, announced that Sal Milici will take on the role.

Sal commenced his position on March 10 this year, in what has been is a major development for the Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association.

Paul said Sal will support members nationally on operational matters, will manage the alliance’s growing number of members in Victoria and will advocate for positive reform on operational and policy committees.

“Sal becomes the fourth licensed customs broker to our administration team, with particular strength in biosecurity and border compliance,” he said.

“Sal will also take an active interest in Victorian operational and logistics activity as well as national airfreight policy responsibilities.”

Sal is regarded as a highly respected industry representative.

FTA is a leading industry body representing 380 major importers and freight forwarding businesses and serves as Secretariat to APSA being the peak body as designated by the Federal Minister of Infrastructure and Transport to protect the interests of Australia’s cargo owners and shippers in respect to shipping and international logistics services.

FTA also manages the Secretariat for the Australian Peak Shippers’ Association (APSA).

The alliance is Australia’s leading representative body for the international supply chain sector bringing together importers, exporters, customs brokers, freight forwarders, logistics service providers and industry groups.
