Expansive distribution centre sets Ahrens apart from the rest

Global industrial property specialist, Goodman, engaged industry leader Ahrens to design and construct an expansive 32,800 sqm distribution centre at their site located in Edinburgh Park, South Australia.

With an extensive history and trusted reputation of servicing the transport and logistics sector to the highest pedigree, Ahrens were able to develop a highly competitive design and construction solution that aligned with Goodman’s ethos of great work that is done right the first time.

A multi-divisional and turnkey approach saw the project and site teams seamlessly collaborate during the design and construction process, utilising steelwork supplied directly from Ahrens’ local manufacturing facility based in Kingsford to create a building solution that was the perfect blend of functional and attractive, satisfying both the operational and aesthetic needs of the client.

Employing a collaborative and consultative method of approach, Ahrens worked closely with the client to provide a bespoke solution that satisfied the key objectives and project outcomes outlined at the beginning of the design process.

Some personalised features included the incorporation of a complex security system into the design of the warehouse, as well as the installation of fully recyclable Alucobond cladding for the office façade and landscaping, a type of cladding chosen for its sustainability. The use of Alucobond reduces carbon dioxide emissions and significantly lowers energy consumption without diminishing or compromising on quality.

Keeping sustainability and safety at the forefront of the entire design and construction process, especially due to an elevated volume of staff actively working across the site at all times during the nine month period, Ahrens were able to complete works in a safe and timely manner to create a stand-out facility for the Edinburgh Park Industrial Estate.

The facility was occupied by end-user DHL, a global logistics provider, who were able to use the warehouse and office to streamline their operational efficiencies and significantly save in overheads.

Efficient layouts of large span structures continue to set Ahrens apart from the rest. Ahrens have the innovative engineering abilities, combined with design and construction experience, to meet the detailed and specific requirements of every transport and logistics project they take on board.

Ahrens’ collaborative, hands-on approach to delivering high quality, value-for-money results continues to see clients return to them time and time again. Their vertically integrated structure ensures they are a one-stop shop, with an unwavering commitment to providing clients with cutting edge and cost effective project solutions.
