ALC urges Australian governments to adhere to National Freight Movement Protocol

As Victoria enters a one-week hard lockdown, the Australian Logistics Council has encouraged all Australian governments to follow the Domestic Border Control Freight Movement Protocol.

The protocol states that state authorities are required to communicate with regulators and industry in relation to border controls at shared borders.

Rachel SmithALC Interim CEO, says the continuous movement of freight is essential and the protocols ensure supermarket shelves remain stocked.

The removal of restrictions on freight movements has enabled significant community amenity during this time, ensuring essential goods including groceries and medical supplies have reached and continue to reach those who need it most,” she says.

The ALC will continue to work with governments on the road to permanently removing restrictions.

Australia’s supply chain is the unsung heroes of the pandemic,” says Rachel.
