DP World Australia has landed in Melbourne, with an on-dock rail facility offering a range of logistics services.

The new site will be at Dock Link Road in West Melbourne.

A gateway for laden and empty containers will have direct rail access and handle train lengths up to 1100 metres long.

Operations will be available at any time of the day.

Expected to be fully operational in early August, the facility will have capacity to hold 6000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).

Ravi Sheshdari, Chief Operating Officer, DP World Australia Logistics, says the company is committed to expanding operations across Australian supply chains.

“We are excited about the continued expansion of its business into Melbourne and will play a pivotal role in cargo connectivity to and from the port precinct and supporting the users of the supply chain,” he says.

DP World provides end-to-end supply chain logistics to its customers for the flow of trade around the world.

The company delivers services through a global network of 148 business units in 60 countries across six continents, with over 50,000 employees.

The West Melbourne site will be the logistics provider’s first venture into Melbourne.
