Healthy Heads receives crucial funding

Healthy Heads

Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds (HHTS) will receive key funding to help its reach in delivering mental health resources for truck drivers, distribution and warehouse staff.

The money is a part of the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator’s (NHVR) Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative (HVSI), which is a part of the National Mental Health and Wellbeing Roadmap.

Naomi Frauenfelder, HHTS CEO says the funding will go a long way to providing much-needed support to those at the coalface of the sector.

“Being Mental Health Month, we also applaud the NHVR for its commitment to improving mental health and wellbeing across the sector,” Naomi says.

“Over the coming 12 months, in alignment with the Roadmap strategy, HHTS will deliver multilingual mental health awareness training, an on-the-road outreach program, and awareness initiatives that aim to break down stigma relating to mental health. We will also continue to develop the Healthy Heads App, adding new features in line with what truck drivers and shed workers are telling us they need.”

“As the industry umbrella body for mental health and wellbeing, we are thrilled to have received this funding and will work tirelessly to ensure everyone can benefit from HHTS. We want people in this sector to feel supported and heard when it comes to their mental wellbeing,” said Ms Frauenfelder.

Sal Petroccitto, NHVR CEO says the project will give industry the tools to have meaningful conversations around mental health and hopefully encourage people to seek support when they need it.

“Prioritising the mental health and wellbeing of our industry and supply chain is crucial to keeping everyone safe, and the sector moving,” Sal says.
