The American e-commerce multinational says it will offer Australian sellers faster delivery options, competitive shopping rates, enhanced seller protection and full eBay integration. It will also help them grow their businesses and attract prospective customers.
Currently, there are two Sydney-based fulfilment centres with eBay planning to establish more facilities in Australia’s other major capital cities.
“At eBay, we understand that housing, managing stock and delivery in tight timeframes can be challenging for growing a business – especially as e-commerce continues to accelerate and consumers expect faster and more seamless experiences,” Hayat Horma, eBay Australia’s Director of Shipping says.
“Our research [indicates 73 per cent]of Australian businesses believe it’s important marketplaces offer fulfilment services. eBay’s priority is to provide the tools that enable our 40,000 Australian retailersto compete and grow.
“eBay Fulfilment by Orange Connex will provide that – from streamlining the delivery experience to eBay Plus integration that gives sellers more opportunity to showcase their products to eBay’s nearly 12-million unique monthly visitors.”
eBay says local shoppers will also benefit from the launch with faster delivery services and a greater variety of eBay Plus items for them to browse and buy.
Australian shoppers will have access to locally stocked products from hundreds of internationally based sellers. eBay says this will mean buyers will have a more streamlined experience when purchasing items from overseas businesses.
“eBay Fulfilment by Orange Connex has been a game changer for our business,” Matthew Ling, Managing Director of eBay seller AZAU says. “We do most of our sales through eBay, so seller protection and competitive shipping rates are two of the most important benefits for us.
“We’ve worked with other logistics companies, and this is the first time we’ve been able to significantly improve our operations and efficiency.”
Other countries to have successfully launched fulfilment centres have been Germany and the United Kingdom. Both nations have noted their delivery experiences have significantly improved due to the program.
