The Freight & Transport Association (FTA) says the Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd (PBPL) is welcoming global logistics and supply chain operator, MEDLOG, to the Port with a 30-year lease.
MEDLOG will be situated on a 7.3ha site on Fisherman Islands with the Port of Brisbane supporting the company’s Queensland expansion.
“MEDLOG’s expansion into Queensland and its new home at Port of Brisbane speaks volumes about its confidence in the Port being the right place to support its long-term growth,” Neil Stephens, PBPL CEO, says.
“Port of Brisbane is on a journey to become Australia’s premier port and logistics hub; welcoming industry leaders such as MEDLOG plays a key role in ensuring the Port of Brisbane achieves this vision and continues to deliver for the Queensland economy and community well into the future,” he adds.
The FTA says once the new facility is operational, it will be one of the world’s most automated container parks, incorporating high-end technology to deliver world-class standards in terms of operation and safety.
It notes PBPL will develop the site to MEDLOG’s specific requirements for the storage and operations of both empty and fully laden containers with the facility expected to be operational by the third quarter of this year.
It adds that it is standard in all new PBPL property developments that it must include sustainable design elements, including a solar installation and use of low carbon concrete.
MEDLOG is an international logistics and supply chain operator with a presence in more than 70 countries and handles more than 15 million TEU annually. It is one of the businesses within the MSC Group, a global business engaged in the transport and logistics sector, and has been operating in Australia since 2008.
