Amazon Australia has announced the launch of FREE One-Day Delivery via its website on eligible items for Prime members in most areas of Melbourne and Sydney.

It says hundreds of thousands of products across categories including toys, household and personal care, electronics, books, pantry staples and more are eligible for Prime FREE One-Day Delivery.

“We know that Australian customers are always looking for value through great prices and fast delivery, so we’re thrilled to be able to make Prime even more convenient with FREE One-Day Delivery,” Janet Menzies, Country Manager for Amazon Australia, says.

“Whether you are after something to entertain the kids, a last-minute gift, or need to restock on household essentials, our fast, free Prime delivery options provide a convenient solution, an offer members in most areas of Melbourne and Sydney access to free one day delivery on a huge selection of products,” she adds.

Eligible items can be identified by the ‘Prime FREE One-Day’ or ‘Prime One-Day’ icon. Prime members ordering from most postcodes in Melbourne and Sydney can now place their order on eligible items before the One-Day Delivery order cut-off time, which can be as late as midnight, to receive their items the next day, with no minimum spend required.

“Our ability to offer customers faster delivery speeds is a direct result of our continued investment and expansion of our operations in Australia,” Janet says. “Building fulfilment centres and delivery stations close to where our customers live and work, means packages travel shorter distances, accelerating shipping speeds.”

Prime members who are not in an eligible postcode will still benefit from free delivery in as fast as two days on eligible orders and will also experience enhancements in delivery speed as Amazon Australia continues to invest in its operations and logistics network.

Over the coming months, Amazon Australia aims to expand product selection and delivery areas eligible for Amazon’s Prime FREE One-Day Delivery to provide more Australian Prime members access to even more products, faster.

Amazon Australia notes it has more than doubled its operational footprint in 2022 with the launch of its first robotics fulfilment centre earlier this year.

It says with this expansion, the company now has storage space across six fulfilment centres, doubling its capacity for small-to-medium-sized items, such as consumer electronics, books, toys, cosmetics, and pantry items.

It adds that this expanded fulfilment network will support many of the small and medium-sized Australian businesses who use Fulfilment by Amazon to seamlessly service customers around Australia.
