DHL Supply Chain Australia partners with Mattel

DHL Supply Chain Australia has partnered with global toy leader Mattel to form a 10-year warehousing agreement with operations occurring at a new 31,000 sqm site in Truganina in Victoria.

It notes this new agreement means that Barbie, Ken and an extensive catalogue of other toys, well-loved by children and fans alike, will have a new home in Melbourne where the space required to cater for growth following the brand’s boost in popularity generated by the hit movie, Barbie.

“We enjoy a great relationship with Mattel, and we’re thrilled to have entered this 10-year agreement and have their warehousing operations running from this new site,” says Steve Thompsett, DHL Supply Chain ANZ CEO.

“We’re also pleased to help Mattel reduce operational costs and boost the sustainability of their warehousing with significant upgrades to their operation, delivered thanks to DHL’s global focus and expertise in this field.”

The long-term agreement follows a successful five-year relationship between the companies and has provided the opportunity to upgrade Mattel’s warehousing with improved sustainability measures.

“This agreement ensures we have the operational infrastructure and expertise in place to secure our growth plans for the future,” says Paul Faulkner, Senior Vice President and Managing Director for Mattel Asia Pacific.

“In our mission to deliver innovative products and experiences that inspire fans, entertain audiences, and develop children through play, certainty and precision in our supply chain is vital.”

The Truganina site has been upgraded to achieve Green Star accreditation – the internationally recognised Australian sustainability rating and certification system.

It boasts features including a 200kWp rooftop solar array, rainwater collection, Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards (WELS)-rated water fittings, energy efficient high-volume speed (HVLS) fans, and rooftop lighting, which uses sunlight to illuminate the building.
