CEVA Logistics is reimagining what sustainability means in contract logistics. With an aggressive target to be net zero by 2050, CEVA, part of the CMA CGM Group, is all in on finding new, innovative ways to reduce carbon emissions at scale.

CEVA’s newest warehouse in Kemps Creek is a prime example of the intersection of innovation and responsible logistics. The 34,000-square-meter every detail is built to prioritise sustainability and technology, including market-leading temperature control technologies, state-of-the-art racking and traffic management for seamless flows.

Its 1,510 solar panels were installed for an 830kW photovoltaic system with battery, as well as translucent roof sheeting, LED lighting, electric vehicle charging points and rainwater harvesting to help water conservation.

This is just one example of CEVA Logistics’ impact when it comes to sustainable logistics. CEVA is a key player in third-party logistics, providing and operating transportation and global end-to-end supply chain solutions. With nearly 50 sites across Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, CEVA works with customers to achieve sustainability goals across their entire supply chain operations.

Resonating with this year’s sustainability theme, CEVA’s participation in MEGATRANS 2024 underscores the company’s dedication to advancing sustainability in the logistics sector. CEVA’s commitment to sustainability aligns closely with CMA CGM Group’s corporate social responsibility governance and strategy, with defined sustainability priorities and action plans for decarbonisation.

On 18 September, CEVA was awarded the prestigious Sustainability Initiative Award at the MHD Mercury Awards.

CEVA Logistics in Australia has launched a zero-waste-to-landfill project to enhance sustainability. This initiative boosts the recycling and reusing of waste from warehousing and logistics, aiming to cut CO2 emissions by over 4,000 tonnes annually. Partnering with Wasteflex Australia, CEVA has introduced a digital tool to track and manage waste metrics, including source reduction, recycling, waste sorting, composting, and proper disposal. Different waste types are managed to maximize landfill diversion and minimize environmental impact. Thanks to a robust sustainability culture and effective practices, CEVA’s recycling rate in Australia has risen from 45% to over 80% in the past year.

“This great achievement is a testament to CEVA’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship,” says Jaydeep Solanki, CEVA’s General Manager Procurement in Australia & New Zealand.

“This recognition reflects our commitment to implementing innovative solutions that reduce our carbon footprint and promote a greener future for the logistics industry. We are incredibly proud of our team’s efforts and will continue to strive for excellence in all aspects of our operations.”
