Hino Hybrid Electric provides fuel-saving opportunities for waste management operators

Waste management operators can reduce fuel bills and CO2 emissions by adding Hino 300 Series Hybrid Electric light-duty trucks to their fleets.

Waste management operators can reduce fuel bills and CO2 emissions by adding Hino 300 Series Hybrid Electric light-duty trucks to their fleets.

“Many operators are looking to reduce their emissions; however, battery electric vehicles don’t yet have the capability to meet the high demands of the waste management industry,” said Daniel Petrovski, Department Manager of Product Strategy for Hino Australia.

“The Hino Hybrid Electric is a proven solution that reduces emissions and can be introduced into a customer’s fleet immediately.

“The integration of the body and PTO is no different to a conventional diesel truck, and the only consideration for body mounting is the placement of the battery, which sits on the side of the chassis,” he continued.

Compared to an equivalent diesel truck, a 300 Series Hybrid Electric significantly reduces a customer’s fuel costs.

“Real-world trials comparing the proven Hino Hybrid Electric truck against a traditional diesel equivalent revealed up to 24%* reduction in fuel use and CO2 emissions, and greater savings are achievable depending on the application of the vehicle and how it is driven.

“For over 15 years, Australia’s only Hybrid Electric truck has delivered savings to Hino customers, including in small waste applications,” said Mr Petrovski.

The Hino Hybrid Electrics use a standard diesel pump, meaning there are no refuelling issues, range restrictions or charging requirements.

Like all Hino 300 Series 4×2 models, the Hybrid Electric models feature Hino SmartSafe, a comprehensive safety package with advanced driver-assist technology that takes an active focus on protecting the life of drivers, passengers and other road users.

Hino SmartSafe includes:

  • Pre-Collision System with Autonomous Emergency Braking
  • Pedestrian Detection
  • Lane Departure Warning System
  • Vehicle Stability Control
  • Reverse camera
  • Dual SRS airbags
  • Four-wheel disc brakes
  • UN ECE R-29 cab strength certified
  • Easy start

The Hino 300 Series Hybrid Electric range is available from Hino dealerships Australia-wide and includes the 616 Standard and Wide Cab 4.5 tonne GVM car-licensed models through to the 716 Wide Cab with a 6.5 tonne GVM and the 916 Wide Cab, which has a maximum GVM of 8 tonne.
