DHL announces leadership change in life sciences and healthcare

DHL Supply Chain Australia has appointed Daniele Guainazzi as Vice President of its Life Sciences and Healthcare division.

DHL Supply Chain Australia has announced a leadership succession within its Life Sciences and Healthcare (LSHC) division. Daniele Guainazzi has been appointed as Vice President, Life Sciences and Healthcare, effective immediately.

Guainazzi brings more than 20 years of experience in senior logistics roles within the life sciences and healthcare sector, including over a decade with DHL across the Asia Pacific region. He succeeds Michael Gardner, who has been appointed to a newly created global role – Head of Pharma Specialised Network – and will relocate to DHL’s global headquarters in Bonn, Germany.

In his new position, Gardner will lead a team focused on specialised pharmaceuticals, including biologics, cell and gene therapies, and frozen or cryogenic storage. The role is part of DHL’s Strategy 2030, which includes strengthening capabilities in specialised logistics for life-saving treatments.

DHL Supply Chain Australia operates a network of Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA)-compliant sites across the country, providing multi-temperature storage solutions and more than 200,000 pallet spaces. The division includes over 1,200 employees dedicated to life sciences and healthcare.

Steve Thompsett, CEO of DHL Supply Chain ANZ, said: “Michael has had an exceptional career with DHL Supply Chain Australia, and his legacy includes the development of advanced temperature-controlled packaging and transport solutions and substantial expansion of our life sciences and healthcare operations. I’m thrilled with Daniele’s career trajectory. He has earned the respect of our customers and will continue to innovate and lead our life sciences and healthcare team in Australia.”

Globally, DHL operates more than 100 life sciences sites and maintains capabilities in cold chain transport, packaging, automation, and robotics, supporting the logistics requirements of the life sciences and healthcare sectors.
