iMOVE Australia has announced a new round of its Impact Extension Program (IEP), offering a total of $2 million in matched funding to accelerate the development and deployment of transport innovations across the country.
The IEP2 program invites proposals from eligible organisations with an Australian Business Number (ABN), including businesses, research bodies, and government agencies. Applicants can apply for funding between $100,000 and $500,000 (excluding GST), with the funding required to be matched by the recipient organisation.
Projects must focus on applied research and development aimed at delivering near-term impact in Australia’s transport systems. The funding is designed to support initiatives that promote more intelligent, sustainable, and accessible transport, particularly in areas such as freight and logistics, public transport, and active transport modes.
Previous recipients of the first IEP round included projects focused on improving public transport accessibility, evaluating e-micromobility use in regional centres, and enhancing rail-level crossing safety.
To be considered, proposed projects must be delivered in partnership with at least one industry or government partner, and involve collaboration with a university or publicly funded research organisation. All projects must conclude by June 2026.
Expressions of interest are now open, with submissions closing at 5:00pm AEST on 26 May 2025. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to submit a full application as part of the second-stage process.
iMOVE is the national centre for collaborative R&D in transport and mobility. The centre is supported by the Australian Government’s Cooperative Research Centres (CRC) Program.
