Logistics provider DHL has established its Electric Vehicle (EV) Centre of Excellence (CoE) network in Australia. The centre aims to provide logistics solutions for companies in the auto-mobility industry and the broader electrification ecosystem.
An expert team will support the growth of EVs and adjacent industries in Australia by offering guidance and compliant international transport and warehousing services.
Three DHL Supply Chain warehouses, located in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, are currently hosting lithium-ion batteries and comply with local regulations for storing dangerous goods. Integrated into a nationwide transportation network, the sites allow direct dispatch to dealers or service centres.
“We’re so pleased to expand our EV COE network to Australia and to support the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem locally,” said chief executive officer of DHL Supply Chain ANZ Steve Thompsett.
“We announced in November last year that upgraded warehouses in Sydney and Melbourne would house batteries, and now we welcome the addition of Brisbane.”
As part of an investment under the New Energy Growth Initiative, DHL’s Centre of Excellence for EVs will facilitate the import of replacement EV batteries and parts through a certified transportation service. This is supported by the wider group, including DHL Global Forwarding and DHL Express, to help customers reduce lead times and optimise costs.
“We aim to pioneer the development of the electric vehicle market in Australia. With the support of our global network, we are enabling a one-stop shop for EV logistics, improving the efficiency of aftersales services for Electric Vehicle players and beyond in the country.”, DHL’s global auto-mobility sector president Fathi Tlatli.
