Qantas partners with Global GSA Group to boost air freight network

Qantas has announced a new partnership with leading general sales agent Global GSA Group to expand its air freight footprint across Europe.

Qantas has announced a new partnership with leading general sales agent Global GSA Group to expand its air freight footprint across Europe, marking a renewed focus on the continent.

Under the three-year agreement, Global GSA Group will serve as Qantas Freight’s general sales agent in Europe, managing cargo bookings and space allocations for flights out of Rome’s Fiumicino and Paris’ Charles de Gaulle airports.

The partnership is designed to optimise capacity and streamline services for freight customers, with Qantas Freight executive manager Igor Kwiatkowski saying it would provide more efficient and flexible options for the region.

“We are thrilled to partner with an experienced GSA like Global GSA Group to offer our customers more efficient and flexible air freight services from Europe,” Kwiatkowski said. “This strategic partnership allows us to make the most of our cargo network in the region and make it easier for freight forwarders to access our capacity and meet global ecommerce demand.”

Qantas operates three weekly Boeing 787-9 flights from both Rome and Paris, with its Paris services running year-round and Rome services available seasonally during the European summer. Each flight offers approximately 45 tonnes of weekly cargo uplift.

With operations in 25 European countries and extensive interline partnerships, Global GSA Group will support Qantas Freight’s network development and commercial expansion across mainland Europe.

Global GSA Group CEO Aytekin Saray said the agreement would unlock valuable export opportunities for European freight forwarders.

“Qantas offers a huge network of opportunity for European freight forwarders to reach domestic and international destinations within Oceania,” Saray says.

The agreement was signed in person this week by Saray and Qantas Freight head of global sales Mallory Logan, solidifying Qantas’ strategic re-entry into the European air freight market.
