Hellmann opens new sustainable logistics centre in Melbourne

Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has opened a new contract logistics facility in Truganina, in Melbourne’s west.

Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has opened a new contract logistics facility in Truganina, in Melbourne’s west, doubling the company’s warehouse capacity in the metropolitan area.

The 19,000-square-metre site includes 18,000 pallet spaces and is equipped with modern warehouse and inventory management systems. It is designed to provide flexible, scalable logistics services to customers across a range of industries, including automotive, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, and other consumer goods.

“With the new site in the Melbourne metropolitan area, we are strengthening our presence in Australia and creating the foundation for even more flexible and efficient logistics solutions,” says Mark Fitzpatrick, Regional COO Contract Logistics APAC, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics. “The combination of strategic location, modern infrastructure, and a wide range of services offers real added value for our customers.”

The new facility is targeting a 5-star Green Star As-Built certification. Sustainability measures include a 200 kW solar system, 30,000-litre rainwater tanks, and ten charging stations for electric vehicles.

Hellmann has operated in Australia since 1987 and expanded to New Zealand in 1988. The company now operates seven locations across both countries, including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Darwin, Auckland, and Christchurch.

“The opening of our new contract logistics center is another milestone on our way to offering innovative and sustainable logistics solutions worldwide,” adds Volker Sauerborn, Global COO Contract Logistics, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics. “We are strategically advancing our infrastructure to meet the increasing demands of our customers – efficiently and environmentally consciously.”

The Truganina facility also strengthens Hellmann’s position in the Asia-Pacific region, a key market for the company’s global operations. It enables faster delivery times, improved service flexibility, and long-term support for new and existing customer requirements across the supply chain.
