Emirates has announced the expansion of its Emirates Courier Express service into the Australian market, enabling door-to-door international parcel delivery within days.
With 70 passenger flights per week into Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, the service leverages the airline’s existing network and infrastructure to enhance cross-border logistics.
The Courier Express offering is designed to address long-standing delivery challenges that have affected Australia’s participation in global eCommerce. According to the International Trade Administration, only 6 per cent of international shoppers currently buy from Australia – largely due to unpredictable costs and slow delivery times.
Dennis Lister, Senior Vice President of Product and Innovation at Emirates SkyCargo, said Australia was identified early on as a key market during the test phase of Courier Express.
“Logistically challenging and historically underserved, businesses and end consumers will feel the benefits of our direct connectivity, high frequency flight schedules and flexible, scalable solution,” Lister said.
Emirates Courier Express integrates first and last-mile delivery through a local transportation partner and covers the entirety of Australia from launch. The service bypasses the traditional hub-and-spoke model by routing directly through Dubai, reducing handling and time in transit.
By combining Emirates’ passenger flight network with Emirates SkyCargo’s logistics expertise, the service supports the fast and secure delivery of a wide range of parcel types – including goods requiring specialist handling such as medical equipment.
It also includes advanced digital integration, allowing customers to connect the service with existing software and track shipments in real-time.
The launch comes as inbound small parcel volume to Australia has risen 45 per cent in the past two years, reflecting growing domestic demand for international online shopping.
Emirates says the expansion marks the next phase in its 30-year journey in Australia, with Courier Express providing new opportunities for both local and international businesses.
