Amazon Australia plans to recruit 1,800 seasonal workers across its fulfilment centres and logistics sites to support upcoming sales and peak shopping demand.
The hiring drive comes ahead of Prime Big Deal Days, a Prime-member exclusive event running 7–13 October. The sale marks the start of the Christmas shopping calendar, preceding Black Friday in November.
Seasonal employees are expected to pick, pack and ship customer orders to help meet demand during Prime Big Deal Days, Black Friday, and the wider festive period. Roles are available at sites in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, Newcastle, Gold Coast, Gosford and Geelong. No prior experience is required, with on-the-job training provided.
Michelle Theophilou, Senior HR Manager, Amazon Australia, says the company is seeking enthusiastic people from all backgrounds. “These roles are a great way to gain experience, learn new skills and even kick-start a long-term career at Amazon,” she says.
Seasonal roles can also serve as a pathway into permanent employment. This year, Amazon has created more than 1,500 permanent positions across its operations. Benefits for permanent employees include free life insurance and subsidised health insurance for families.
One employee, Rajeshwar Singh, joined Amazon as a seasonal hire in 2023 and has since progressed to leading a team of up to 50 people at the company’s Robotics Fulfilment Centre. “Starting as a seasonal hire, I quickly moved up to become a problem solver and now I’m proud to be leading a team,” he says.
Applications for seasonal roles are now open via amazon.com/australiajobs. Amazon is also offering flexible earning opportunities through its Amazon Flex program, which allows individuals to deliver packages using their own vehicles.
