Increasing productivity in the most demanding outdoor spaces

Workers who spend their days loading containers in ports and rail yards, delivering parcels across the country, or navigating busy loading docks all have one thing in common – the harsh conditions presented by working in outdoor spaces.

The mobile devices these workers rely on are exposed to the elements all day, which can have negative impacts on productivity. For example, a dropped device could end up cracked on the pavement or a deep puddle.

Aside from the device itself, outdoor environments are tough on barcodes, often resulting in damage that makes scanning impossible. It can also be hard for operators to see in the bright sunlight or pouring rain.

When workers face these roadblocks and need to manually process errors or call the help desk for assistance, this leads to lower productivity and dissatisfaction. This has flow-on effects further down the chain, potentially causing containers to be loaded late, or perishable goods to spoil due to shipping delays, for example.

To counter these issues, decision-makers are accelerating their investments in mobile technology to increase efficiency across the supply chain and future-proof their operations. Frontline workers’ relationship with technology has evolved dramatically in the last few years, with 93 per cent of decision-makers surveyed saying new technology is vital for attracting and retaining workplace talent, signalling a major shift in workforce priorities.

Driving Productivity with Next-Generation Devices

This is where rugged devices come in, like Zebra’s MC3400 Series and MC9400 Series.

Built to meet the evolving demands of today’s high-pressure outdoor environments, Zebra mobile computers combine rugged durability with next-generation processing power and future-ready wireless connectivity, enabling frontline workers to respond quickly to shifting priorities and meet rising demands.

With different devices for specialised contexts and varying durability requirements, Zebra’s mobile computers are designed to handle the most demanding workflows. The MC3400 Series, comprised of the MC3400 and MC3450 devices, is built to support day-to-day transport and logistics use, featuring drop-proof, dust-proof, and waterproof ratings and available in both a gun-style and straight-shooter form. The MC3400 Series adapts to the varying needs of frontline workers, giving them everything they need to keep up with the demands of today’s 24×7 e-commerce-driven economy.

Meanwhile, the ultra-rugged MC9400 Series, comprised of the MC9400 and MC9450 devices, takes ruggedness to the next level and is designed to thrive in the toughest environments. Featuring the world’s greatest scanning range – from in-hand to over 100 ft./30.5 m away – and with Wi-Fi 6E, private and public 5G, the MC9400 Series offers the fastest wireless connections available today. Available in both standard and freezer models, these devices are ready to power the new generation of industrial applications.

Free Cradle promotion when purchasing Zebra mobile computers
With nearly 5 million Zebra mobile computers streamlining and error-proofing processes worldwide, now is the ideal time to update your organisation’s technology and future-proof your business for the demands of today and tomorrow. Zebra’s next-generation mobile devices, including the MC3400 Series and MC9400 Series, are engineered to handle the pressure of modern logistics, increasing the speed, accuracy, and reliability of business operations.

To make the transition even easier, Zebra is offering an exclusive promotion on both the MC9400 and MC3400 Series.

For every purchase of 10 units of MC3400 Series mobile devices, customers will receive a free single-slot charging cradle to maximise value and performance. This promotion offers an affordable way to equip your warehouse with high-performance mobile devices, along with the right accessories to maintain your operations. The MC3400 cradle is a key accessory used to ensure devices are charged for use in optimal working condition, ready to support front-line workers.

For every purchase of 12 units of MC9400 Series mobile devices, customers will receive a free four-slot charging cradle. The charging cradles allow businesses to streamline device charging and improve workflow efficiency in fast-paced, high-volume environments, ensuring that mobile devices are always charged and ready for action without unnecessary interruptions.

By investing in new ruggedised devices, businesses can reduce maintenance costs associated with outdated equipment, minimise downtime and empower employees with tools that perform consistently even under harsh conditions, ultimately supporting business continuity and driving overall efficiency gains.
