Global retail giant Costco will anchor the Cook Government’s newly launched Alkimos Central Home X Trade Hub – a $33 million large-format retail precinct set to transform Perth’s rapidly growing northern corridor.
The new Costco outlet marks a significant milestone for the Alkimos Central masterplanned community, which is projected to exceed 45,000 residents by 2035. The retailer’s decision to open at the Home X Trade Hub demonstrates strong confidence in the area’s long-term growth, connectivity, and commercial appeal.
Strategically positioned adjacent to the METRONET Alkimos Station and offering seamless access to the Mitchell Freeway via Romeo Road, the 24-hectare precinct will feature sites designed for bulky goods retail and trade-related businesses. DevelopmentWA has now launched an expressions of interest (EOI) campaign for additional operators, releasing up to 17 hectares within the hub for sale or lease.
Planning and Lands Minister John Carey says the project represents a unique opportunity for businesses to join an internationally recognised brand in one of Perth’s fastest-developing regions. “With Costco coming soon to the Home X Trade Hub, this is a chance for businesses to establish themselves alongside a global retail leader, further enhancing the precinct’s profile and drawing significant customer traffic to the area,” he says.
The development is expected to create hundreds of jobs during construction and operation, while boosting economic activity for local businesses. Butler MLA Lorna Clarke welcomed the news, noting it would provide greater convenience for local families and encourage new retail investment.
Expressions of interest close at 2pm (AWST) on Wednesday, 26 November via Tenderlink. More information is available on the DevelopmentWA website.
