EBOS Group has opened a new Symbion pharmacy wholesale distribution centre at Kemps Creek in Western Sydney, marking the latest milestone in its four-year, $360 million renewal program.
The 56,000-square-metre facility, located about 40 kilometres west of the Sydney CBD, is now fully operational and servicing approximately 1,500 pharmacy customers across New South Wales.
Designed to increase service efficiency and provide room for future growth, the warehouse features 30,000 square metres of storage space and is one of the most automated and technologically advanced sites in the company’s Australian network. The new location replaces EBOS’s long-standing Sydney wholesale centre, which will be wound down and closed by FY26.
The Kemps Creek site incorporates a combination of renewable and low-emissions energy systems, including a 1.75-megawatt rooftop solar array, three 706-kilowatt biodiesel generators and a 669-kilowatt battery. EBOS notes the solar installation is the largest across its network. The facility can also draw power from a local embedded network when onsite generation is insufficient.
Sustainability features extend beyond energy, with the site adopting reusable customer totes, full cardboard recycling and rainwater harvesting to reduce waste. The facility is one of two remaining projects in the company’s distribution centre renewal program, which is expected to be completed in FY26. Upon completion, EBOS anticipates its annual capital expenditure to be around 30 per cent lower on a comparable basis.
EBOS Group CEO Adam Hall says customers previously serviced from the former Sydney site are now receiving deliveries from Kemps Creek, reflecting the company’s focus on network efficiency and service continuity.
