FMH Group has announced the acquisition of Melbourne-headquartered AFS Logistics, marking the group’s first strategic acquisition since Pacific Equity Partners became majority shareholder in March this year.
AFS Logistics operates as a 4PL and 3PL provider across Australia and New Zealand, delivering end-to-end supply chain services including warehousing, transport management, international freight forwarding and logistics consulting. The business’s service offering is supported by proprietary technology.
The acquisition brings AFS into FMH Group’s portfolio of logistics businesses, which includes efm Logistics, Couriers Please and Border Express.
Paul Little AO, Executive Chairman of FMH Group, says AFS has established a strong reputation over its three decades in operation. He says the business has built a highly capable team and brings expertise that complements FMH Group’s existing portfolio.
AFS Founder Tony Bates says joining FMH Group represents a new chapter for the business and its customers. He says the two organisations share alignment in values, service quality and long-term ambition.
Bates and AFS Executive Director and Board Member Paul Hopgood will remain involved through advisory roles and equity investment. AFS CEO Sam Eid continues in his role, reporting to FMH Group Acting CEO Chris Livitsanis.
In a statement, AFS says that in the near term it will be business as usual for customers, carriers and partners. The company says it will work closely with FMH Group over the coming year to explore opportunities to strengthen its offering.
FMH Group says the acquisition forms part of its long-term growth strategy, which is focused on strategic acquisitions, technology investment and business development across its logistics portfolio.
