South Australian engineers have developed a new free online tool designed to help businesses and organisations understand how Artificial Intelligence can be integrated into their operations, as part of a State Government-funded Industrial AI program.
The AI Roadmap Generator, developed by the Australian Institute for Machine Learning’s engineering team, provides individualised AI strategies based on information supplied by users through an online platform. The tool is aimed at helping organisations assess their readiness for AI adoption and identify practical opportunities relevant to their industry and operations.
Businesses using the tool are guided through a series of inputs, which are then used to generate a tailored AI plan. The roadmap is intended to support organisations in understanding AI opportunities, assessing internal capability, building a business case for investment, and creating a strategic pathway for implementation.
Assistant Minister for Artificial Intelligence and the Digital Economy Michael Brown says the tool reflects growing interest among local businesses in adopting AI to improve efficiency.
“Increasing numbers of local companies are using AI as a tool to streamline their processes and make them more efficient,” Brown says.
“South Australia is building a strong reputation for its growing digital economy, this tool is yet another step towards preparing local businesses and organisations to use AI to their benefits.”
The AI Roadmap Generator was developed through the AIML Industrial AI program, which focuses on building core industrial AI capability, supporting adoption across industry, and driving productivity, economic growth, and skilled job creation.
AIML Engineering Manager Jonathon Read says the idea for the tool emerged from conversations with businesses struggling to take their first steps with AI.
“After speaking with a number of customers about their stumbling blocks in adopting AI, a pattern emerged, they found it helpful when our engineers suggested specific ideas they could take back to their teams and customers to validate,” Read says.
“That’s where the idea for the AI Roadmap tool came from.”
While developed with South Australian businesses in mind, the tool is available nationally and can be accessed online, allowing organisations anywhere in Australia to begin exploring AI adoption.
