DHL Supply Chain Australia has been appointed as the strategic third-party logistics partner for Metso, supporting the mining technology provider’s expansion in Queensland.
Under the agreement, DHL will manage Metso’s warehousing operations from its Wembley Park facility in Berrinba, Brisbane. The site will support inbound logistics, storage and outbound movement of equipment and machinery used across Australia’s mining industry.
The Brisbane facility provides a combination of indoor and outdoor space and is designed to support a broad range of products, from small precision components to large heavy machinery requiring specialised handling equipment.
The partnership marks DHL Supply Chain’s first move into comprehensive 3PL supply chain services for Australia’s mining and energy sector. It also builds on DHL’s existing relationship with Metso across Indonesia and South Africa.
DHL Supply Chain Australia and New Zealand CEO Steve Thompsett says the partnership reflects the company’s mining sector capabilities and its ability to support Metso’s Australian growth.

Metso Vice President for Australia East Gavin Pasin says the new warehousing arrangement will help the company meet increased capacity requirements and improve customer service across the region.

“This new state-of-the-art facility, strategically located in Southern Queensland, will enable us to meet increased warehousing capacity needs and enhance our ability to serve customers more effectively.”
DHL’s scope of services includes inbound and outbound logistics, storage, and day-to-day warehouse operations. The operation will be supported by 24/7 on-call service levels, visibility tools, inventory tracking systems and technology-enabled reporting designed to improve efficiency and operational oversight.
The partnership also aligns with both companies’ sustainability objectives, with warehouse operations supported by on-site solar power and other renewable electricity sources.

Globally, DHL supports mining and construction equipment supply chains through services including warehousing, transport, heavy-lift movements, battery logistics and onsite logistics support.
The company says the new agreement gives Metso access to DHL’s global network, technical expertise and industrial logistics capability as it continues to expand its service presence across Australia’s Eastern Seaboard.
