Victorian Minister for Ports and Freight Melissa Horne will headline the MegaTrans 2026 Official Opening Breakfast, as the freight and logistics sector prepares to gather in Melbourne later this year.
The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) has announced Minister Horne as keynote speaker for the breakfast, which will be held on Wednesday 16 September at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Hosted by the VTA, the event will officially open MegaTrans 2026, bringing together freight operators, supply chain professionals, policymakers, technology providers and industry stakeholders from across Australia.
Minister Horne’s address is expected to outline the Victorian Government’s priorities for ports, freight infrastructure, supply chain resilience and the transition to lower-emission transport technologies.
VTA Chief Executive Officer Peter Anderson says the partnership between the VTA and MegaTrans continues to strengthen industry engagement and provide a platform for discussions about the future of freight transport.
“MegaTrans has become one of the most important events on the national freight and logistics calendar, bringing industry, government and suppliers together to tackle the opportunities and challenges facing transport operators,” Peter says.
“The VTA is proud to partner with MegaTrans 2026 and deliver events that provide practical insights, encourage collaboration and support the long-term sustainability of our industry.”
Peter says Minister Horne’s participation reflects the importance of government and industry collaboration as freight operators navigate a period of significant change.
The VTA will also host its Annual Alternative Fuel Summit 2026 at MegaTrans on Thursday 17 September.
Now in its fifth year, the summit will focus on pathways to low- and zero-emission freight transport, including electrification, hydrogen, sustainable biofuels and emerging technologies.
Discussions will also examine the infrastructure, investment and policy settings needed to support practical industry adoption.
Peter says the transition to low- and zero-emission freight presents both challenges and opportunities for operators.
“The Alternative Fuel Summit provides an important forum to share knowledge, showcase innovation and accelerate the adoption of technologies that will shape the future of freight transport in Australia,” he says.
