Dematic has showcased a range of automation technologies, software and storage solutions at CeMAT Australia 2026, highlighting the role of intelligent automation in improving warehouse productivity, capacity and resilience.

The company was a major sponsor of the event, held in Melbourne, and welcomed visitors from across retail, grocery, manufacturing, third-party logistics and distribution.

A key focus for Dematic was the Australian debut of its Multishuttle FD Shuttle System, which was demonstrated locally for the first time. The technology attracted interest from businesses seeking scalable, high-density storage solutions that can support changing operational requirements.

Alongside the FD Shuttle, Dematic showcased Automated Guided Vehicles, AutoStore, 4-Way Pallet Shuttle solutions, Connected Workforce technologies featuring voice and vision picking demonstrations, Lifecycle Services capabilities and Australian-made Colby Storage Solutions.

The exhibition gave attendees an opportunity to see how these technologies can work together to support more connected warehouse operations, while also engaging directly with Dematic’s local automation specialists.

David Rubie, ANZ Sales Director, Integrated Systems and Mobile Automation at Dematic, says CeMAT provided an opportunity to speak with businesses about the operational challenges they are facing.

“This year there was strong interest in solutions that can help organisations improve productivity, increase storage density and make better use of existing facilities,” he says.

During his presentation at the CeMAT Knowledge Theatre, Optimising Manual Warehouses with Automation, David explored how technologies such as pallet shuttles, AGVs and Dematic’s FD Shuttle solution are helping organisations maximise capacity and improve operational performance within existing facilities.

“For many organisations, the focus is on finding practical ways to get more out of their existing operations,” he says. “The technologies available today provide greater flexibility than ever before, allowing businesses to automate at a pace that aligns with their needs and growth plans.”

Dematic also used CeMAT to highlight the evolving role of AI and connected workforce technologies. In the presentation AI is Here: Optimising Frontline Workers, Lee Koutsos, ANZ Director of Connected Workforce Solutions and Storage Equipment at Dematic, and Daniel Park, Sales Engineering Manager ANZ at Zebra Technologies, discussed how AI-powered solutions are being applied to frontline warehouse operations.

The session explored how enhanced intelligence can support workers on the floor, while improving productivity, operational efficiency and warehouse control.

Philip Makowski, Marketing Director APAC at Dematic, says the event highlighted strong industry interest in practical automation and technology solutions.

“The conversations throughout the event reflected a strong focus on improving productivity, making better use of existing facilities and building more resilient operations,” he says.

“It’s clear that organisations are looking for solutions that can deliver value today while providing flexibility for the future.”

Philip says Dematic’s long-running involvement with CeMAT made the 2026 event particularly significant.

“Dematic has supported CeMAT since its inaugural year, so it was particularly meaningful to return as the major sponsor in 2026 as we celebrate 60 years of supporting customers across Australia and New Zealand,” he says.
