Toyota Material Handling Australia has appointed Cameron Paxton as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 July 2026, following the retirement of outgoing President and CEO Steve Takacs.
Paxton steps into the role after serving as TMHA Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, where he helped shape the company’s strategic direction and led operational improvements across safety, performance and business efficiency.
His appointment follows a 29-year career with the company and reflects his long-standing leadership experience across sales, branch operations and executive management.
Paxton began his career in the material handling industry in January 1997 with Melbourne-based ProLift, where he worked as Business and Sales Manager. He later progressed through several key sales and operational leadership roles as the business evolved into TMHA.
In 2007, Paxton was appointed Regional General Manager Melbourne during the formation of TMHA. He relocated to the company’s Sydney head office in 2012 to take on the role of General Manager Branch Operations, providing leadership and support across TMHA’s branch network.
He was later promoted to General Manager – Sales, before becoming Director of Sales.
Most recently, Paxton was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in 2025. In that role, he played a key part in leading TMHA’s business operations during a period of transformation, contributing to the company’s ongoing performance and strategic development.
TMHA says Paxton’s appointment reflects his deep understanding of the company’s business, customers and people, as well as his long-term contribution to the organisation.
Takacs retires after leading the business through a significant period in TMHA’s development, with Paxton now set to guide the company through its next stage of growth.
